Live Fleet Tracking and Automatic Flight Logging — What We're Building for 2027

Every logbook entry in a flight school starts the same way: someone remembers, or someone forgets. Block time gets written down from memory a few minutes after landing, sometimes a few hours after, occasionally the next day when it's already fuzzy. It works, because pilots are conscientious people. It also means the one piece of data your whole operation — billing, maintenance intervals, currency — depends on is, at the source, a guess written on paper.

We're building a way to close that gap: a small GPS tracker on the aircraft, a live map of the fleet in the app, and flight times that are proposed automatically instead of typed from memory. Here's what it actually is, and — just as importantly — what it isn't yet.

What it does

Two things, both already partly built on our side:

A live map. Open the app and see where every aircraft in the fleet actually is right now — in the pattern, on a cross-country, parked on the ramp. No radio call needed to find out if an aircraft is back yet.

Flights logged without typing block time from memory. When a tracked aircraft takes off and lands, the system matches that flight to the booking it belongs to and pre-fills the flight log — airborne time, landing time — for the instructor to confirm, not to blindly accept. If two bookings on the same aircraft overlap and it isn't obvious from timing alone which one just flew, our AI assistant looks at the specifics — the student's usual flight length, the stated purpose of the booking — and shows its reasoning, not just a guess. A human still confirms every entry. Nothing gets written to a logbook on its own.

How it will actually work

Not via the aircraft's existing ADS-B transponder — a meaningful share of light training aircraft, especially LSA/ULS class, don't broadcast one at all, so that approach would quietly fail for exactly the aircraft it needs to cover. Instead: a small, battery-powered GPS tracker, no wiring into the aircraft's electrical system, reporting position over the mobile network. The school owns and fits the tracker; our platform is the software that reads its data, matches it to bookings, and puts it on the map.

The honest timeline

Targeting Q1 2027. Between now and then: we're testing it end-to-end on our own aircraft first, not shipping it to schools untested. If it works the way we expect, existing customers will hear about it directly before it's generally available — and pricing, when we announce it, will reflect what it actually costs to run, not a guess made before a single real flight was tracked.

We'd rather tell you "not yet, and here's exactly what's left" than switch on a feature and hope it holds up on your fleet. That's the same reason the pricing page says what it says and not more — we don't sell what we haven't tested.
